Buying the Right Amount of Bundles for a Full Sew-In
The number one question that our clients ask is, “How many bundles do I need for a full sew in?”
Well, the answer varies based on the hairstyle, cut, length and the size and shape of your head. I usually get three bundles for my primary sew-in, that’s typically the magic number for your average sew in hair.
If you choose short as 12'', your weave two bundles will be full. With three bundles anywhere from 12'' – 20'' your weave will be full and glamorous. If your sew-in is starting with lengths over 22'' you might want to consider four bundles.
A few things to factor are the size of your head (seriously), how full you would like your hair (deep wave styles generally have a lot of hair as an example), are you using a closure/frontal, and the overall type of hairstyle you are going for.
The basic sew-in usually consists of the full head braided up in the bee-hive. This or whatever your stylist suggests, with minimum hair leave out.
However, some people prefer two bundles for a more natural look. Bobs are a trendy style and they only consist of two bundles typically.
Comparison of Length and Weight for Various Bundles
Bundles from QiME Hair weight about 3.5 oz or 100 grams.
Although, all of our bundles weigh the same amount a 10-inch bundle will always be fuller than an 18 inch if doing a sew-in.
Since the weight of the bundles of the hair is the same, you have to think of how the weight is proportioned.
A 10'' bundle has a longer weft when compared to a 20'' bundle. The weight of the hair in a 10'' bundle is wide and long on a 20'' bundle.
The reason you might need 5 bundles when using lengths in the 28'' – 32'' range is that the hair weight is going all the way down your back and not sewn around your head. You will need the additional bundles to give a full appearance when using really long lengths.
